The Pointed Sticks were one of Canada’s best power pop bands making up Vancouver’s late 1970s punk/new wave scene. After forming in 1978, the Pointed Sticks released a few singles and eventually their catchy, well-crafted songs got them signed to the old UK label Stiff Records. They were Canada’s answer to early Elvis Costello, XTC and the Buzzcocks. However, one year after their one and only full length studio album, Perfect Youth, was released in 1980 the band broke up. Twenty-five years later, as the early Canadian punk scene was undergoing renewed interest, the band reformed with all original members and played numerous sold out and well received live shows in Vancouver, Japan, New York and Toronto.
